‘The Greatest Show Off Earth’ is a community project that focuses on youth and community education to promote sustainability, especially food sustainability, through the medium of performing arts.

This multimedia dance performance highlights themes of sustainability through changing perspectives using a circus vocabulary. Dancing ringmasters, clowns and trapeze artists will aid the audience in examining the various ways life is perceived and how perception impacts our behavior. Community dancers and youth performers aged 5-35 will be performing. There will be two performances held at the Kahilu Theatre on May 3rd at 7pm and on May 4th at 2pm. The money raised from ticket sales will be donated to Mala`ai. $20 for adults, $10 for youth, $5 for five and under, tickets are available from the Kahilu Theatre box office at 885-6868. Additionally, on May 8th, there will be two school shows at 9:00 and 10:30am as part of the Kahilu Theatre’s Youth Live Performance Season. Please see flyer for complete information and other events associated with this performance.

KTF has hosted a community project for the last five years.  The community projects are an opportunity for the Kahilu Theatre Foundation to pair with another non-profit in the community to raise awareness of an important community issue.

These projects are centered on a specific theme and involve workshops, supplemental educational opportunities, and development of a dance performance that is held at the Kahilu Theatre in the Spring. The show is then refined and made part of the Kahilu Theatre's youth performance season in the Fall.

Last year's community project, called Disposable Nation, was a huge success and raised money for the North Hawaii Youth Coalition.

Since 2003 The Kahilu Theatre has collaborated with:

Over 3000 youth have participated in these projects and over $20,000 has been donated to these organizations through this program.
